Exquisite Seagrove pottery
Paul Ray was born and raised in Seagrove, NC on land that had been passed down through his family since 1791. In 1991 his parents, Gordon and Patricia Ray, took up pottery and set up a studio. Their hobby grew into a successful business, Cagle Road Pottery. Paul’s first experience with clay was in that studio. Years later Paul quit his job, enrolled into pottery classes and went to work for his parents at their Cagle Road studio, just as they had done years before.
Paul immersed himself into pottery going to classes in the morning and working for his parents at night. He eventually set up his own studio and a retail shop in the heart of downtown Seagrove. Today Paul creates works of pottery with deep copper red or peacock blue glazes that combine beauty and practicality in each piece.
